Q: How did you choose the name Hair Friendly Styles?
A: I knew the main topic would be “hairstyles”, specifically hair-friendly hairstyles; so I wanted a name that would speak for itself. I also wanted a name that would be easy to remember and that can be shortened nicely – HFS. Although HFS also means among other things Http File Server, Hierarchical File System, or Healthcare and Family Services. It was like choosing a name for a child when you also think who else has/had that name.
Q: Did you take a professional hair styling class?
A: No, I didn’t. But it is flattering when people ask me this question. Because it makes me think that maybe the result has a professional appearance. And the important part is that I can achieve this result using different techniques than the ones used by the hairdressers – hair-friendly techniques.
Q: Where do you find your inspiration?
A: It’s not like I’m inventing something out-of-the-ordinary. There are few basic things that can safely be done with the hair: twist, braid, roll or tie. Perhaps the way I play around with this basic techniques can be sometimes unexpected.
Q: Who is the person in the pictures?
A: It’s me! I applied to each photo a pencil sketch effect so people won’t get distracted by my hair color from the essence of the hairstyle. And I also noticed that the details are more accentuated this way.
Q: My hair is different from yours (too short, too fine, too curly, different haircut etc.). Can I try your hairstyles?
A: Absolutely! So, your hair is different and of course the same hairstyle will look different on your hair. What if it will look better? You should definitely try!
