Day 13: low/high ponytail
If you make a ponytail on top of your head it’s a high ponytail, if you make a ponytail at the nape of your neck it’s a low ponytail. Perhaps this is the hairstyle I should have started with, because it’s a basic way to style your hair. And it’s also the base for other hairstyles.
I’m pretty sure everybody knows how to make a ponytail. You just gather all your hair together and secure it with a ponytail holder; usually a hair elastic. Try not to use a rubber band. It may seem like a good idea because it’s almost invisible, but it’s not very hair friendly. You can hide the hair elastic with a strand of hair wrapped around and pinned underneath with a bobby pin. The hair will look smoother if you apply a leave in conditioner or your favorite hair styling product.
It’s a hairstyle that can look very elegant; that’s another reason to mention it. And it’s also very simple. Less is sometimes more; more often than we realize.
